How to Maintain and Store a Hopper Texture Sprayer

In order for a texture sprayer to last a long time and perform efficiently cleaning and maintaining it is a must. It may be considered a task that isn’t necessary, but if maintained regularly, the machine will last years and can help you reduce maintenance costs in the future. Bombatek Spray Equipment Repair are the experts at maintaining and repairing a hopper texture sprayer and giving you three tips on keeping your texture sprayer maintained so you can skip out on maintenance costs and make sure your machine operates effectively for years to come.

Maintaining Sprayer
After you are done spraying, you need to clean each piece in order for the sprayer to perform at its best next time you go to use it. If the pump is dirty, it may spray particles of texture from the last time you used it into the new finish. When you have finished spraying, open the air valve on the gun, turn hopper switch to spray, and turn the power switch to on. Close the gun air valve and spray the remaining texture mix into a bucket.

Next, fill the material hopper with roughly 3 gallons of clean water and spray inside the material hopper to circulate the water through gun and hose and use the gun to clean the material hopper. Partially open the air valve on the gun to use air to clean it and spray water into a bucket to empty out the material hopper. The last step is to turn the power switch to off and open the gun air valve.

Removing Material Hopper
The first step is to loosen the bottom fitting where the hopper connects to the sprayer. Then you want to lift the material hopper straight up and off the unit. Use your hand and plug the opening on the bottom of the material hopper and take it to a cleaning area.

Clean Touch-Up Hopper Attachment
The first thing you need to do is shut off the compressor and disconnect the airline from the gun. Drain all material out of the hopper and fill the hopper with clean water. Remove the nozzle from the gun and pour water through the gun and flush it until it is clean. Next, you want to turn the power switch to on and open the guns air valve and blow air through the tip, clearing any remaining material that is left. Remove the hopper and clean all parts with a soft brush to loosen any dried on the material. Apply drops of light oil to air hose quick disconnect, the material hose connections, and flow adjustments on the gun to improve conditions for the future.

It’s important to make sure there is no paint from the sprayer, gun, and hopper and if there is any leftover paint, it can cause a clog in the future. To learn how Bombatek Spray Equipment Repair can help maintain your equipment, visit our website  or call us at 281-935-0584.
